Where you can order

Layout does not have a partner list. It orders from the site the restaurant already runs, which is why the answer is usually yes even for a single cafe nobody has heard of.

The short version

If a restaurant, cafe or coffee shop takes online orders for pickup, Layout can almost certainly order from it. That covers most of the places you can order from in the US today, chains and independents alike.

You do not need to check a list first. Ask for the place by name and Layout will tell you if it cannot reach it.

What stops an order

A handful of real limits, and none of them are about how big the restaurant is:

• No online ordering at all. A phone only restaurant has nothing for Layout to drive.
• Ordering only inside their own app. If there is no web checkout, there is no way in.
• Delivery only. Layout is pickup for now, so a place that will not let you collect is out.
• The item is not sold online. Some restaurants publish a shorter menu for online orders than the one on the wall.
• They are closed. Layout checks hours, and a closed store is a no rather than an order that quietly fails.

Browsing what we know about

Layout keeps a public list of places it has already looked up, grouped by city, at layout.link/places. It is useful for a browse, and it is not a limit: plenty of restaurants Layout can order from have no page there yet.

Business details on those pages come from Google and can be out of date. Prices and availability are confirmed against the restaurant's own site at the moment you order, which is the number that ends up on your receipt.

Locations and which one you get

When you name a chain without a location, Layout picks the one nearest to you, using your device location if you have shared it or a saved address if you have not. If it cannot tell, it asks rather than guessing across town.

You can always be specific. "The one on Court Street" or "the one by my office" both work.

Cities and coverage

There is no city list. Layout is not rolled out market by market, because there is nothing to roll out: if the restaurant has an ordering site, the site is the integration.
